International Student Day, World Student Day Celebrations

Avul Pakir Jainul-Abdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Madras Presidency, British India. He is popularly known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and space rocket technology. Beloved former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, also known as the father of India's military missile program served as president from 2002 until 2007, was not only a renowned scientist, thinker, philosopher, and teacher, but also a winner of numerous prestigious awards and honors. He was also honored with 'Bharat Ratna' for his contribution to the scientific research and modernization of defense technology in India.In 2005, Switzerland also declared May 26 as 'Science Day' to commemorate Dr. Kalam’s visit to the European country.

Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam is not only a great scientist but also a good author. He wrote many books which inspired many student hearts.'Wings of Fire', 'India 2020 - A Vision for the New Millennium', 'My journey' and 'Ignited Minds - Unleashing the power within India' are the famous books which Dr. Kalam authored.

Dr. Kalam is not only perspective to knowledge but also in encouraging students which made him gain the stature of students’ day by UNO. Agreeing with him, in today’s world, the modern ideology of being a well-learned person is to sharpen the merit of the student.A student has to develop from average to extraordinary. In this way of merit development, only studying books can never make a student ideal. In order to be ideal he must walk through all branches of sharpening merit such as theory reading, understanding, and its practical application. International Student Day.

In 2010 when the United Nations decided to celebrate the importance of the India's former President and a great scientist, APJ Abdul Kalam it was declared as World Students Day, From then on every October 15 People will celebrate it as World Student's Day. Good students not only mean those who get an "A" in all of their learning in school or college exams. Of course, education is a very important part for the betterment of development process in case of a student. But it is not everything. Students who get good grades, that’s not the quality of a good student. One has to be good in every aspect if to fulfill the expectations of the society’s people. In a word, an ideal student should reflect all the good qualities in Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and be a model for other students.

On Students day, Students display and celebrate their acts of social responsibility. They have gatherings on campus to showcase the causes they volunteer for. The youth take part in gleeful competitions, indulge in gossip about the student unions. Although not as relevant to mankind, these gatherings attract a good deal of involvement, donations and attention for organizations and charities. The students enjoy the day meaningfully with the thoughts and works of Mr. Kalam.

According to DR.APJ Abdul Kalam, students should have an aim in life, acquire knowledge through all possible sources, work hard and never accept defeat by the problem, always defeat the problem and succeed.
